Retailers unveiled for 1300-job shopping park
Plans for a 1300-job shopping park have taken a step forward after several big-name retailers were unveiled for the scheme.
Developers behind Scotch Corner Designer Village say M&S, Guess, Castore and Monsoon will join the venture, which is set for land next to the A1(M) between Darlington and Richmond, North Yorkshire.
The £130 million park is planned to open in spring 2027, with bosses saying it will create “the premier outlet and leisure destination across the North of England” and attract around four million shoppers every year.
Further retailers confirmed for the 73-store hub include Molton Brown, White Stuff, Radley London, Phase Eight, Calvin Klein, Skechers, Wagamama and Five Guys.
Officials say it will also include the “UK’s largest” Blue Diamond home, lifestyle and garden centre.
Sarah Hodkinson, Scotch Corner Designer Village leasing director, said: “We are thrilled with the enthusiasm of major retail brands and the local community.
“This is a vote of confidence for the North of England.”
Simon Waterfield, developer, added: “The increased visitor time to the region is expected to boost the local economy substantially with additional tourism, overnight and longer visits.”
