Budget hotelier starts work on 100-room base
A budget hotel operator has kickstarted work on a 100-room venture.
Travelodge is building a site at Loughton, in Epping Forest.
Based off the M11, bosses say it will “help meet growing demand for affordable accommodation within easy reach of London”.
Work on the hotel – which is earmarked to open late next year and set to stand alongside office and self-storage space – is being overseen by developer Higgins Group and principal contractor Barnes Construction.
Tony O’Brien, UK development director, said: “This will further strengthen our presence across the Greater London area.
“Loughton is a prime location for commuters, shoppers and visitors, and our hotel will provide a well-connected base for all types of travellers.”
Declan Higgins, chief executive of Essex-based Higgins Group, added: “We’re really pleased work is underway on the new Travelodge site.”
