Happy Pear achieves B Corp milestone
An Irish food company is celebrating a milestone in its sustainability journey.
Plant-based brand The Happy Pear has officially become a certified B Corporation, joining a global network of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental performance.
Founded by twin brothers David and Stephen Flynn in 2004, Greystones-basedThe Happy Pear has grown from a fruit and veg shop into a thriving community business, with a range of cafes, food products and a regenerative farm.
The B Corp certification process took more than a year and included a rigorous assessment of its operations across multiple areas, including governance, employee wellbeing, supply chain ethics and sustainability.
The award places The Happy Pear among just 8000 companies globally to have achieved the certification.
Darragh Flynn, younger brother of David and Stephen, and operations director, said: “This represents a huge milestone for us – and one that we are especially proud of as it represents an affirmation of our founding mission, to build a healthier, happier world through food, community and connection.
“We have always been keen to promote a healthy lifestyle through a plant-based diet and a positive mindset, helping people make constructive food choices that support nature, help build communities and bring happiness and a sense of wellbeing.
“We will strive to work harder and do even better to create a positive impact on our customers, communities, staff and the environment.”
