Robson Laidler crowned firm of the year
A North East accountancy firm is celebrating regional recognition.
Robson Laidler, which recently announced it had expanded into Teesside following the acquisition of Tindles Chartered Accountants, has been crowned Independent Accounting Firm of the Year at the North East Accountancy Awards 2025, held at Hilton Newcastle Gateshead.
With offices in Newcastle, Durham and now Teesside, the firm has grown turnover by 12 per cent over the past year, driven by demand across private, public and NHS sector work.
Its success was also attributed to the introduction of a four-day working week, part of a wider focus on workplace culture.
Former managing director Graham Purvis, who retired in March, also received the Outstanding Achievement Award for transforming the firm into a values-led business and gaining B Corp certification in 2021, as well as playing a central role in the firm being listed as one of the Best Places to Work by the Sunday Times.
Graham said: “I’m proud to have been part of the vibrant accountancy profession we have here in the North East, and to have won this award is an incredible honour.
“Thank you to the coaches, mentors and colleagues who I’ve learnt so much from. This is what happens when we embrace collaboration and kindness.”
Now led by joint managing directors Amy Park and Nick Wilson, the firm has set out a new five-year growth strategy focusing on service development, sustainability and staff wellbeing.
Nick added: “This is a huge achievement and a moment of pride for us all.
“It recognises not just the high standards of professionalism and exceptional service we give to our clients but also the strengths of our core values, culture and our mission to build a business in a way that makes us proud.
“We will use this award to keep making a positive impact, driving positive change and using our business as a force for good.”
