Subsea cable firm plugs into Middle East deal
A subsea cable maker has secured a Middle East contract.
JDR Cable Systems is set to test 14 offshore platform powerlines for multinational operator Larsen & Toubro.
Bosses say the firm will monitor critical hydraulic and electrical control systems, with testing carried out across pre-deployment and installation.
The project will be managed from JDR’s UK service centre in Newcastle, with technicians rotating offshore to deliver the work.
JDR has a further North East base at Port of Hartlepool, and has invested in an additional site at Cambois, near Blyth, Northumberland.
Alan Combe, JDR service sales manager – Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: “Securing this contract reflects the strength of our service offering and the capability of our team to deliver technically complex service work.
“The Middle East is an exciting region, full of opportunity and innovation, and an important part of our long-term focus.”
The firm last year revealed a £30 million UK Export Finance guarantee, which it said would accelerate international work and boost its role in renewable energy and offshore wind projects.
