Games developer Everplay 'up a level' after deals
A video game developer is poised to continue a takeover quest after wrapping up multi-million-pound expansion deals.
Everplay says it will continue exploring franchise and rights agreements to “accelerate continued long-term growth”.
The blueprint came after the Wakefield-based operator sealed moves to buy the rights and assets of the Hammerwatch franchise and multi-platform games Settlement Survival and Operation Tango.
It also followed the release of new titles including dating simulator Date Everything!, which bosses say delivered a “robust” half-year trading performance and nudged annual forecasts “slightly ahead” of market expectations.
They add four-title action-adventure franchise Hammerwatch provides great scope to “explore commercial opportunities and sequels to drive long-term growth”, with Settlement Survival and Operation Tango “demonstrating its commitment to disciplined capital deployment on assets providing predictable return on investment”.
A spokesperson said: “The group has traded strongly across the first-half of the year, with new game releases performing positively.
“Date Everything! has been particularly well received, with further games Sworn and Nice Day for Fishing also delivering encouraging starts.
“As a result of the first-half performance, the continued robust back catalogue and positive momentum going into the second-half of the year, the board expects full-year results to be slightly ahead of current market expectations.
“The group’s focus on acquiring exclusive publishing rights of previously released third-party games is gaining traction.
“This new revenue stream allows the group to further strengthen its back catalogue while leveraging its lifecycle management skills and reflects the group’s ambition to accelerate continued long-term growth.”
