Firm powers up staff plans after renewables boost
A building services engineering firm is boosting its workforce after renewables demand helped double turnover.
GW Power has seen annual sales grow two-fold to £12 million.
And bosses at the Hull-headquartered firm are now recruiting electricians, plumbers, gas and heating engineers and renewables specialists to maintain its momentum, with turnover tipped to hit more than £16 million in the next 18 months.
The drive comes as the business, which provides renewable energy, mechanical and electrical services, and operates a sister Leeds site, prepares to unveil plans for new “sustainable” headquarters.
It also follows an investment in a fleet of electric vehicles, which the firm says will accelerate efforts to become a net-zero operator.
Daniel Haley, managing director, said: “We pride ourselves on being a leader in the decarbonisation movement.
“A large part of our recent growth has come through the expansion of our energy department, which specialises in solar PV and battery storage solutions, as well as securing more projects in the construction sector.
“We must practice what we preach, and we have set ourselves an ambitious target of becoming a net-zero business by 2030.
“Our new headquarters building will boast all the latest green technology, and investing in electric vehicles is another way we can significantly reduce our carbon footprint.”
