Getting to know... Hanna Pumfrey

In the latest instalment of Bdaily's Getting to know feature, which looks at the person behind the business profile, Hanna Pumfrey, co-founder of Life Postpartum, talks about the venture's origins, channelling personal experiences into support for others and why she loves Yorkshire...

We know you as the co-founder of Life Postpartum, but who is the person behind the title? Tell us a little about what makes you tick...

I’m a mum, a wellness advocate and someone who’s deeply passionate about changing the narrative around postpartum care.

I’m energised by meaningful conversations, solving problems that matter and building things that have a real impact on women’s lives.

I thrive when I’m creating something that feels purposeful, especially if it’s rooted in care, connection and community.

Life Postpartum was born out of both personal struggle and a drive to make the journey into motherhood more supported for others.

That mission really fuels everything I do.

Did you always want to work in the mother and baby world?

Not at all.

My background wasn’t originally in this space, but becoming a mum changed everything.

After going through my own postpartum experience, and realising just how much was missing in terms of support, it became impossible to ignore.

What started as personal frustration became a calling.

It was never the plan, but it became the purpose.

What’s the best bit about your job? And the worst?

The best bit is hearing from mums who tell us Life Postpartum made them feel seen, supported or a little less alone.

That kind of feedback stops me in my tracks.

The worst part? Probably the juggle.

Running a start-up while navigating motherhood is no small feat, and there are definitely days where it feels like a lot. But even on the tough days, I wouldn’t trade it.

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?

Professionally, co-founding Life Postpartum with my friend Hannah; bringing this idea to life is something I’m incredibly proud of.

Personally, getting through the early postpartum months when I felt completely overwhelmed, and then choosing to turn that into action, feels like a pretty big achievement too.

Sometimes, surviving becomes the seed of something transformative.

How do you relax outside of work?

Fresh air and movement are my go-to areas, whether it’s a long walk with my daughter or a bit of solo time with a podcast and a coffee.

I also love a good book and genuinely unwind by learning new things, especially around women’s health and wellbeing.

That might sound like ‘work’, but when you care this deeply about a mission, it’s also a joy.

What makes Yorkshire such a great place to live and work?

There’s something special about the Yorkshire pace of life – it has a groundedness to it.

You’ve got stunning nature on your doorstep, supportive local communities and a real sense of pride in people backing independent, purpose-led businesses.

It’s a brilliant place to build something that matters, especially something community-focused like Life Postpartum.

Tell us something about you we didn’t know...

I previously trained as a nutritional health coach, specialising in gut and hormone health, and it completely changed how I approach stress, recovery and overall wellbeing, as well as opening my eyes to just how important effectively supporting women navigating the postpartum period truly is.

It’s a big reason why emotional support, nourishment and nervous system regulation play such a key role in the Life Postpartum platform.

The power of nutrition and lifestyle support is truly underrated.
