Games conference secures TVCA support
A new creative industries event is coming to the North East this autumn.
Game Republic New Horizons will bring leading figures from games, film, TV and VFX to Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium on October 16.
Backed by the Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA), the “flagship conference” will feature speakers from BAFTA, a global guest lineup and an expo including unreleased games.
Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen said: “Our region is now firmly established as a leading UK centre for digital and tech growth, powered by a creative and innovative games sector and rapidly growing TV and film production.
“Our Tees Valley Investment Zone has now been established to further expand our creative and digital industries, so events such as this are crucial in bringing industry leaders to Teesside to highlight the outstanding work and game-changing projects taking place right here.”
Games studios, developers and creatives can apply for one of 50 early bird tickets priced at £99+VAT before July 30.
Alongside panel discussions and networking sessions, the event offers one-to-one meetings, industry roundtables and a VIP reception.
An after party at Level X will include arcade access, go karts, karaoke, bowling, food and drink and more.
Jamie Sefton, managing director of Game Republic, which is the largest games industry network in the North, added: “We are excited that Game Republic New Horizons will take place in the UK’s fastest growing tech hub outside London.
“This new flagship conference is set to become an annual must-attend event in The North bringing investors, platform-holders, publishers and games studios as well as film, TV, creative and tech businesses from across The North, the UK and overseas to the region.
“The conference will explore opportunities for collaboration and share high level insights on future markets, opportunities and skills.”
Full programme details will be announced in the coming weeks.
