Getting to know... Allana Hurst

We know you as the CEO of Tights Tights Tights, and a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, but who is the person behind the title? Tell us a little about what makes you tick…

I am very ambitious and always exploring ways I can grow and develop my business. Creating content is a real passion of mine, I love the creativity and freedom it gives me to share my story and inspire others. I also really enjoy listening to podcasts, which has enabled me to learn so much and progress both personally and in my work life.  

Did you always want to work in your industry?

Yes from an early age I loved fashion and could always see myself working in the industry. I studied International Fashion Promotion at University and went on to work for several fashion companies. I also owned my own fashion company before starting at Tights Tights Tights.

What’s the best bit about your job? And the worst?

Providing customers with exceptional products that are benefiting them. I love identifying gaps in the market and creating innovative products to meet those specific needs.

Running a global business certainly comes with many challenges and a lot of pressure managing everything, but it is also what makes the journey so exciting. 

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?

My biggest achievement was completing the manager buyout of Tights Tights Tights and employing my Mum and Dad who both work for the business. 

How do you relax outside of work? 

I love spending quality time with my family and friends. I really enjoy going to the gym as well as going out for walks at the beach or in the countryside. I feel most relaxed when spending time outdoors. 

What makes the North East such a great place to live and work?

It is a vibrant city it has everything you could possibly want. One minute you can be in the city and next on the beach or out in the countryside. We are so lucky to have everything on our doorstep. 

Tell us something about you we didn’t know…

I used to work as a TV extra and appeared in various shows including Vera.
