Darlington event digs deep for charity

A construction equipment firm is bringing a family-friendly machinery showcase to Darlington this summer.

Molson Group, the UK’s largest independent construction equipment dealer, will host its first-ever Family Construction Day on Wednesday, August 6, in Market Square.

Held in partnership with Darlington Borough Council and Middlesbrough College, the event, which runs from 9.30am to 4pm, invites families to explore diggers up close, with children encouraged to climb into the cabs and learn how they work.

William Morris, depot manager at Molson’s Darlington branch, said: “We are delighted to be bringing this event to the region and support our local community, while raising much-needed funds for our fantastic chosen charity.

“We hope to welcome as many people as possible from the area and give them the chance to find out more about construction machinery, actively encouraging local communities to understand the wider role they play in our world, while also allowing the children to have fun sitting in real-life machines!

“We would like to thank Darlington Borough Council, the GNAAS and our supplier Miller UK for their support with getting this event off the ground, which is set to be a great day.”

As part of the day, Molson will raise awareness for the Great North Air Ambulance Service with the unveiling of two limited-edition digging buckets, painted in the charity’s colours and logo.

Donated by earthmoving attachment manufacturer Miller UK, the buckets mark a collaboration between the two firms.

Barry Robison, group sales and commercial director at Miller, added: “It is fantastic to support our valued customer, Molson’s, as they engage with their local community and showcase the construction sector with young people.

“We hope events like this will inspire our next generation to explore the exciting opportunities available in our industry.”

Representatives from Middlesbrough College will also be on site to discuss training and development opportunities in engineering and manufacturing, while Miller UK will showcase its equipment alongside Molson’s fleet.
