Raise a glass to Jesmond’s latest arrival
A new wine lounge has opened its doors in Jesmond.
Angel’s Share is the latest addition to St George’s Terrace, transforming the former Boots building into a relaxed venue blending wine, food and local art.
The concept is the brainchild of hospitality expert Daren Knipe and his wife Kate, who have created a stylish yet informal space for residents and visitors to enjoy something different.
A standout feature is the wall of self-serve dispensers, allowing guests to sample wines from around the world by the glass.
From rare bottles to well-loved classics, the system makes premium wine more accessible.
Most champagnes are available in single servings, while the food menu focuses on small plates and sharing boards using locally sourced ingredients.
The interiors nod to the building’s pharmaceutical past, with vintage prescription books and salvaged shelving worked into the design.
Walls are decorated with artwork from North East artists, all of which is for sale.
There’s also space for private events, with a second floor available to hire and al fresco seating out front.
Newcastle-based Mincoffs Solicitors supported the launch, with licensing and gaming partner Matt Foster and real estate associate solicitor Keith Ravenhill advising the couple from the outset and helping bring the concept to life.
Matt said: “From the moment we were approached by Daren and Kate with the concept it was clear that Angel’s Share would be popular.
“It’s brilliant to see how local residents have received the venue since it opened its doors.
“The team have done a fantastic job with the renovation and the venue is a great addition to Jesmond’s existing offering.”
Keith added: “Angel’s Share is in a brilliant location and Daren and Kate were the perfect proprietors to make the most of the space and its potential.
“We look forward to working together again in the future and wish them both success with the venue.”
