Tyneside Cinema to crack Osman's mystery first

A North East independent cinema is set to welcome a star-studded film preview ahead of its official UK release.

Newcastle’s Tyneside Cinema has been chosen as one of the only venues outside London to host early screenings of The Thursday Murder Club, the film adaptation of Richard Osman’s best-selling novel.

Directed by Chris Columbus (Harry Potter, Mrs Doubtfire) and featuring Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie, the movie follows four retirement village residents who turn their cold-case-solving club into a real-life murder investigation.

The previews begin on August 22, weeks before the film lands on Netflix, offering audiences in the region a rare chance to catch the whodunnit on the big screen.

Hannah Ross, head of marketing and engagement at Tyneside Cinema, said: “We’re beyond excited to bring this hotly anticipated adaptation to Tyneside.

“It’s a huge coup for the region and a brilliant reminder that independent cinemas still play a key role in championing standout storytelling.

“We can’t wait to welcome audiences for what promises to be a highlight of our year.”

Tickets are on sale via the Tyneside Cinema website, with the venue expecting high demand.
