Academy of Medical Sciences appoints CEO

The Academy of Medical Sciences has named Rosalind (Roz) Campion as its new chief executive.

She joins from the Government’s Office for Life Sciences, where she spent four years driving collaboration across Government, the NHS, academia and industry to support UK life sciences growth.

Rosalind will take up the role in October, succeeding interim chief executive Jill Lockett.

She said: “I am very proud to have been appointed to be the chief executive of the Academy of Medical Sciences. 

“Progress in medical sciences is transforming the lives of patients in the UK and globally, and can fundamentally improve the UK's economy and productivity. 

“I am looking forward to working closely with dellows, staff and partners to advance the Academy's mission.”

Professor Andrew Morris CBE FRSE PMedSci, president of the Academy of Medical Sciences, added: “Roz brings a wealth of expertise to the Academy, and we very much look forward to welcoming her as our chief executive. 

“She has extensive experience operating at the highest level, including working with many of our fellows. 

“Her strategic insight across Government and the life sciences sector, coupled with her commitment to fostering impactful collaborations both in the UK and internationally, positions her exceptionally well. 

“I am excited by the opportunity to work with Roz and our fellowship to guide the Academy at this crucial juncture for biomedical and health research.”
