Tees Valley seeks new business board leader

A Tees Valley-based business advisory board is recruiting a new chair to support regional growth and investment.

Applications have opened for the unpaid position leading the Tees Valley Business Board, which represents the interests of the local business community and provides strategic advice to the Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA).

The successful candidate will sit as a non-voting member on the TVCA cabinet and work alongside private sector experts to help shape projects focused on inward investment, skills and business expansion.

Acting as a key voice for the business community, the board helps attract new companies to the area, supports local firms to scale, and ensures the regional workforce is equipped for future opportunities.

Currently, the role is held on an interim basis by LV Logistics company ambassador Matthew Ord.

Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen said: “Our businesses are at the heart of everything we do to grow the Tees Valley economy.

“The Business Board chair is a crucial role that brings the expertise and experience of our business leaders directly into the decision-making process.

“I look forward to working closely with the new chair to ensure we continue delivering the jobs, investment, and opportunities our region deserves.”

Applications close on August 26, with interviews in early September and final approval by the Combined Authority Cabinet expected later that month.
