Water treatment firm aims for growth after buyout
A family-run water treatment equipment firm is plotting international expansion following a management buyout.
Gaffey Technical Services has been taken on by Hannah and Daniel Gaffey.
The duo have succeeded parents Philip and Paula, with the Accrington-based operator promising the move will support efforts to “grow into new geographical regions… and drive digital transformation”.
Founded in 1986 by Mike Gaffey as a chemical dosing and control systems provider to commercial pool and industrial water sectors, its portfolio today includes water disinfection apparatus.
Hailing the “milestone” move, Philip Gaffey, managing director, said: “This is a significant and proud moment for our family and our business.
“With nearly ten years of involvement from Hannah and Daniel, we’ve built a strong foundation for the future.
“The management buyout is not just about ownership; it’s about commitment to our team, our customers and the continued innovation that defines who we are.”
The buyout was supported by Blackburn, Bolton and Manchester-based Pierce Corporate Finance, with corporate finance director Steve Bell and advisor Khadija Patel, providing valuation, deal structuring and negotiation support.
Steve said: “This is a business with a rich heritage, clear technical leadership and strong international presence.
“The management buyout secures the legacy of the company while positioning it for long-term growth.”
Dominic Ball, Pierce tax director, provided tax advice, with funding provided by Mercia Asset Management.
Legal advice was delivered by Greg Gardner-Boyes, of KBL Solicitors.
