Tech firm boosted by £10,000 Sage support
A financial education start-up has secured £10,000 support from a global software firm.
MyPocketSkill has been backed by Sage.
Bosses say the cash will help London-based MyPocketSkill expand its learning portfolio and boost targeted advertising in high youth unemployment areas.
The Clerkenwell firm’s artificial intelligence-powered platform helps people between 13 and 25 develop control of their finances.
Young people complete paid micro-jobs for small businesses and households, manage earnings via a digital wallet and build money skills often missing from the school system.
Co-founders Zara Ransley and Matthew Harker secured Newcastle-founded accounting, financial, HR and payroll software company Sage’s backing after entering its Small Business XI competition.
Zara said: “This is both validation of our work and a catalyst for growth.
“It’s encouraging to see a global brand like Sage recognise the urgency of supporting Gen Z and Gen Alpha as first jobs disappear.
“This win will help us reach thousands more young people right as they’re learning to manage their first pay cheque.”
Sally Moore, Sage senior director of global sponsorship, added: “We’re always looking for ways to champion small businesses and how important they are within their local communities.
“We’re thrilled to showcase the outstanding work MyPocketSkill does.”
The Small Business XI competition forms part of Sage’s sponsorship of The Hundred cricket competition.
Stuart Broad, former England fast bowler and Sage ambassador, said: “The determination and resilience founders demonstrate to make their small businesses successful is incredible.”
