Gateshead Health names acting chief executive
Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust has appointed Dr Sean Fenwick as acting chief executive following the secondment of Trudie Davies to North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Fenwick will take up the role on August 18, joining on secondment from South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, where he is director of operations and deputy chief executive.
He has over 30 years’ NHS experience, combining a clinical background as a consultant nephrologist with senior roles in operations, governance and clinical transformation.
Dr Fenwick said: “It’s an honour to take on this role and to contribute to a Trust whose values and priorities I share.
“Having spent my career in the North East, I’ve always respected the work taking place at Gateshead Health.
“I’m looking forward to working with colleagues, partners and the board to support the work already underway.
“I know how much people care about what they do, and I’ll do everything I can to support that.”
Trudie remains Gateshead Health’s substantive chief executive and will continue to contribute to the Great North Healthcare Alliance during her secondment.
Alison Marshall, chair of Gateshead Health, added: “We wanted to make sure there was clear leadership in place during this period and I’m pleased we’ve been able to confirm Sean’s appointment so quickly.
“He brings not only senior operational and system experience but also a strong clinical background.
“I know he’ll work closely with colleagues and partners in the months ahead.”
