Recovery firm powers on with Mercedes-Benz deal
A nationwide breakdown and recovery firm has powered ahead with a vehicle deal.
Alpha Recovery has added a Mercedes-Benz Arocs truck to its fleet.
Bosses say the 15.6-litre behemoth will be a “cornerstone of operations”.
The firm, which has depots in Dudley, near Cramlington, Northumberland, and Peterlee, east Durham, secured the vehicle through Bell Truck and Van.
The truck – which has been fitted with a Falkom FAW25000 wrecker system – adds to a 30-plus fleet that provides heavy goods vehicle, off-road, bus, coach and van recovery services.
The company’s portfolio also includes plant winching and counts a number of contraflow roadworks contracts in its order book.
Michael Burke, managing director of Alpha Recovery, which has previously used Mercedes-Benz Unimog and Atego vehicles, said: “We chose the Arocs because of our excellent past experiences with Mercedes vehicles.
“This truck had to meet serious demands — and it’s exceeded expectations.”
The sale was supported by Alex Wordsworth, group head of truck sales at Bell Truck and Van – which has bases in Newcastle, Stockton, Billingham and Spennymoor, County Durham – who worked with Adam Green, of Rydam Universal, on a chassis-to-wrecker conversion process.
Michael added: “One of the biggest reasons we went with Bell was the level of service.
“Alex took all the stress out of the build and conversion.
“The process was seamless.”
Alex added: “Michael, Simon and the team at Alpha have been a trusted and reliable partner of Bell Truck and Van for many years.
“When we started talking about building a heavy wrecker, I was really excited – it’s something very different, and I knew it would be a great project.
“Working with the guys at Alpha, Rydam, Falkom and Daimler Truck Technical, we managed to put together the perfect spec.
“It’s great to see the finished result on the road.”
