Blyth Spartans renews ‘historic’ port partnership
A North East football club has kicked off the new season by strengthening a longstanding partnership.
Blyth Spartans AFC has agreed a new sponsorship deal with Port of Blyth, which will see the trade hubs’ branding appear on the men’s first team shirts for the 2025/26 campaign.
The agreement also covers the newly-formed women’s team, whose home and away kits will feature the logo of Port Training Services, the port’s training division.
Club officials say the move marks a milestone in a near 30-year relationship, with the sponsor’s logo appearing on the club’s famous green and white stripes for the first time.
Kevin Miles, chair of Blyth Spartans, said: “Building on the historic partnership between the Port of Blyth and the football club, this new enhancement of our relationship will underline the bond between Blyth's two most iconic entities: the port and the Spartans.
“Our teams will wear Port of Blyth's logo with pride.”
Alongside the shirt deal, the port will also continue its support of the Jimmy Turney Stand and Spartans’ player of the month and year awards, reinforcing its commitment to community, sport and opportunity in the town.
Martin Lawlor, chief executive at Port of Blyth, added: “I am delighted to further strengthen our longstanding partnership with Blyth Spartans – a relationship between two organisations that are very much at the heart of the local community.
“We look forward to supporting the club's progress on the pitch and hopefully celebrating success in the season ahead.”
