Cinema stars share their Desert Island Flicks
A cinema is launching a new celebrity-led film series.
Tyneside Cinema is set to host Desert Island Flicks, a series where well-known actors discuss the films that have shaped their lives and careers.
The inaugural event takes place on September 5 and features James Purefoy in conversation with comedian and actor Dave Johns.
Purefoy, known for roles in Rome, The Witcher, Fisherman’s Friends and A Knight’s Tale, will share personal stories and clips from his favourite films, offering audiences a behind-the-scenes look at his career and inspirations.
Dave Johns, star of I, Daniel Blake, will host the evening, adding his signature warmth and humour to the conversation.
The series will continue with additional celebrity guests, with ticket sales supporting Tyneside Cinema’s work creating opportunities for young, working-class talent in the North East.
Hannah Ross, head of marketing and engagement at Tyneside Cinema, said: “We’re excited to welcome more talent to the North East.
“Hosting James Purefoy will be just the start; keep your eyes peeled for the next celebrity guest announcement.”
Desert Island Flicks promises an engaging, heartfelt and entertaining celebration of cinema, storytelling, and the actors who bring films to life.
