Construction parts maker digs in with HQ expansion
An engineering firm is embarking on a headquarters expansion to meet rising demand.
Allan J Hargreaves Plant Engineers has bought an additional 900sq metres of land and warehousing.
Bosses say the move will bolster operations at its home on Red Marsh Industrial Estate, in Thornton-Cleveleys, near Blackpool, by “expanding its logistics department and freeing up space for production”.
The expansion follows a management buyout by managing director Paul Hargreaves, whose parents Ros and Allan founded the business more than four decades ago.
Known for work across the rail and construction sectors, the firm designs and makes equipment that includes machinery adapted to lift heavier loads and use longer arms to reach further distances.
Paul said: “We solve customers’ technical problems by making or adapting plant equipment to meet their needs.
“Customer service is paramount, but we are also passionate about providing opportunities for the next generation; we take on apprentices every year, and have our own internal full-time trainer.
“It all adds up to an extremely stable business, which is achieving consistent growth with family values at its heart.”
