Plans submitted for Preston’s tallest building
A property developer is set to transform Preston’s skyline with a landmark city-centre tower.
TSS Property has submitted planning application to Preston City Council for Altura, a proposed 30-storey, 96-metre building on Derby Street.
If approved, it would become the tallest structure in Lancashire, providing 218 apartments and seven Grade A office spaces.
The apartments include 163 one-bedroom and 55 two-bedroom units, while the offices offer a mix of co-working and larger suites.
Designed to deliver high-spec living, Altura would feature winter garden balconies, a gym, Pilates studio, games room, residents-only cinema, communal lounge and 24-hour concierge.
Bosses say the scheme, with an estimated gross development value of over £40 million, will be built with regional supply chains, including the designer David Cox Architects, and will sustain up to 60 on-site jobs over a 30-month construction period.
Steven Gallagher, managing director of Preston-based David Cox Architects, said: “Altura has taken three years of design development and evolution, and an unwavering commitment from a team of dedicated professionals.
“We are all proud to be playing a part in shaping the future of Preston.
“Once complete, Altura will be an elegant, contemporary building; one that reflects Preston’s ambition and celebrates its growing status as a dynamic urban centre.
“We are confident that it will make a meaningful and lasting contribution to the city’s evolving skyline.
“We look forward to seeing Altura take its place as an inspiring symbol of the city’s progress and ambition.”
A council decision on planning consent is expected later this year.
