Stagecoach recognised for driving social impact
A transport operator has been recognised for its efforts to tackle regional homelessness.
Stagecoach North East received the Shared Value Award from Oasis Community Housing at the charity’s annual Black & Gold Ball, held at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead.
The accolade highlights partnerships that make a tangible difference in the community and deliver measurable social value.
Stagecoach’s contribution was praised for the positive impact it has had on individuals facing homelessness, reflecting the operator’s commitment to social responsibility in the region.
Steve Walker, managing director at Stagecoach North East, said: “Social value is at the heart of our business and, for us, it’s essential that we give something back and support the communities where we work.
“So, we’re delighted to have won this award from Oasis Community Housing in recognition for our ongoing support of their work with men, women and young people facing homelessness.”
The awards were presented by BBC broadcaster Reverend Canon Kate Bottley, who serves as the charity’s patron, alongside Oasis Community Housing chair of trustees Nick Salisbury and corporate partnerships manager Sophie Barker.
Gateshead-based charity Oasis Community Housing supports more than 1200 people annually across the North East and South East, addressing both immediate needs and long-term solutions through drop-in services, emergency housing, and supported accommodation projects.
Sarah Lister, acting chief executive of Oasis Community Housing, added: “Our Shared Value Awards recognise those businesses that go above and beyond in support of our charity.
“Every year we deliver vital support, housing and, moreover, a place people feel they belong.
“We could not deliver what we do without the generous support of our valued corporate partners and the dedicated individuals within these businesses.
“This award reflects the real and lasting difference this partnership has made to helping people to rebuild their lives.”
