Yorkshire consultancy plants roots in Cambridge

A Yorkshire-based environmental specialist is growing its national reach with a new hub in the South East.

Sheffield-headquartered Enzygo, which started in 2008 with just three employees, is preparing to welcome its 100th team member as it continues its UK expansion.

The company has announced plans to open a regional hub in Cambridge, creating ten new jobs to support businesses across the city and surrounding areas.

Leading the new Cambridge hub will be geotechnical engineer Jamie Austin, who joined Enzygo in 2024 and brings more than 20 years’ experience in land assessments, ground investigations and contaminated land.

He has delivered a wide range of infrastructure, housing and renewable energy projects across the South East.

Jamie said: “Over the past two years, we have enjoyed a significant period of growth, and we hope that our new site will not just help to create new, skilled jobs within Cambridge and the South East, but also contribute to delivering a wide range of infrastructure projects by helping developers address local housing shortages, as well as boosting Britain’s green energy economy.”

The expansion follows Enzygo’s 2023 acquisition of Cambridgeshire-based Brown 2 Green Associates, strengthening its local presence and broadening its environmental service offering.

Now operating from seven regional hubs, Enzygo provides full-service environmental and planning support to help clients navigate the UK’s complex planning system.

Matt Travis, managing director of Enzygo, added: “When we launched the business in 2008, we wanted to challenge the industry norm when it came to accessing environmental support services, by helping developers access a wide range of support services from a single point of contact.

“Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that today the business is on the cusp of welcoming our 100th member of staff.

“We are actively looking to strengthen our existing team across the UK and as well as creating ten new jobs in Cambridge, we are hoping to build on the success we have enjoyed in recent years, by strengthening our team of environmental specialists across the UK.

“Over the past two years we have seen the business grow by more than 20 per cent, and our new Cambridge site forms a key part of our long-term future growth plans.”
