Lucid Technology Solutions appoints rugby pro

Norton-based managed IT, communications and connectivity firm Lucid Technology Solutions has appointed Newcastle Falcons player Jacob Oliver as business development manager.

Jacob, who has also represented England at age group level, will focus on growing Lucid’s cyber security services, particularly for clients in the legal and financial sectors.

Alongside his rugby career, Jacob brings experience from private equity and the contract furniture industry, as well as an entrepreneurial family background.

He said: “Rugby instilled in me copious amounts of skills that are transferable into sales.

“Lucid is a great business that has a genuine customer-first approach and my decision to join was made easy when meeting Paul and getting to know him and his leadership.”

Lucid has been supporting businesses across the North East and beyond for 36 years and employs a team of 18 specialists.

Paul Alsop, managing director of Lucid, added: “Jacob already has a great understanding of how to ‘open doors’ as it were, and has come in all fired up with the perfect attitude towards supporting us in growing the business.

“As a big rugby fan myself, I could see immediately that he transfers that drive on the pitch to his drive workwise, and we’re already seeing results.

“In his first week alone, he secured some incredible contracts and that’s purely down to his dedication and hard work.”
