Wilful appoints climate comms leader to board
Innovation and climate communications specialist Gaby Jesson has joined The Wilful Group as director of strategic growth, taking up a new board-level role.
Gaby brings extensive experience supporting climate-positive and sustainable organisations with PR, content and business development.
A former agency owner with a portfolio of award-winning campaigns, she has held senior roles including chief marketing officer at Plexal, where she launched Europe’s largest innovation hub for technology start-ups, as well as a similar role at Plus X, delivering multiple innovation hubs across the UK.
Most recently, Gaby has specialised in PR, growth marketing, and business development for planet-positive businesses.
She co-hosts the Sustainable Founders podcast, lectures on PR communications and leadership, and contributes to Startups magazine, Climate Global News and Sustainability magazine.
Gaby said: “Wilful sprang from the intersection of innovation and sustainability when established agencies, Cherish and Gong joined forces and I couldn’t resist the invitation to help accelerate the group’s penetration of the climate tech space.”
Since its formation in 2022, Marylebone-based Wilful – a B Corp – has focused on clients driving positive environmental or societal change, biodiversity protection and regenerative business.
Recent campaigns and client wins include the Edge Green Building Certification, Royal Academy of Engineers Africa Grants, Lloyd’s Dive In Festival #WhereIBelong and Nature Finance UK.
Rebecca Oatley, Wilful co-founder and co-chief executive, added: “Gaby’s climate tech expertise, knowledge and contacts are world class and a dedicated focus from someone with her credentials fits our mission brilliantly.
“We are excited for where this collaboration will take us.”
