Airline offers festive flights to Copenhagen

A budget airline is offering festive flights from Newcastle to explore one of Europe’s most enchanting cities.

Norwegian is extending its flights from Newcastle International Airport to Copenhagen this winter following strong customer demand.

Originally launched in May, the direct flights will now operate from October through January, giving passengers the perfect opportunity to explore the Danish capital during the festive season.

Fares start from £48.60 one-way, with convenient weekend departures making trips for Christmas markets, sightseeing, or family days out easily accessible.

Copenhagen is renowned for its charming canals, cobblestone streets and iconic landmarks, including the Little Mermaid statue and the Round Tower.

Visitors can wander the colourful Nyhavn district, savour seasonal delights at the world-famous Tivoli Gardens, or explore festive markets brimming with handcrafted gifts and dazzling decorations.

Chris Ion, head of aviation development at Newcastle Airport, which last week joined Jet2.com in celebrating the airline’s 20th anniversary at the airport, said: “We have seen a fantastic response to Norwegian’s new flights from Newcastle to Copenhagen, which has been one of our most popular city-break destinations this year.

“We are delighted Norwegian has strengthened its commitment to Newcastle by extending its flights to Copenhagen into the winter season.

“It is a clear sign of how popular the new service has been with our passengers and the strong demand for exciting city break destinations from our region.

“This extended schedule gives passengers even more choice to visit Denmark and we look forward to welcoming more Danish visitors to North East England.”

Sara Neergaard, country director at Norwegian Denmark, added: “We’re thrilled to see such strong demand for our Newcastle–Copenhagen route in just a few months since launch.

“The extension of the route into winter with an attractive schedule perfect for both weekend breaks and longer stays offers a perfect opportunity for both British travellers to experience Copenhagen’s charm, and for Danes to discover Newcastle’s vibrant culture, history and hospitality.”
