Karbon Homes unveils Sowerby scheme
A housing developer has completed 64 new affordable homes in a North Yorkshire village.
Newcastle-headquartered Karbon Homes has delivered a mix of rental properties and affordable home ownership options, including Rent to Buy and Shared Ownership in the village of Sowerby, near Thirsk.
The new homes include bungalows and two, three and four-bedroom family houses, designed with traditional architectural styles and local detailing to complement the nearby conservation area.
Kevin Hollinrake, MP for Thirsk and Malton, visited the site alongside Karbon Homes colleagues and construction partner T Manners & Sons, praising the quality and range of properties.
Mr Hollinrake said: “As former shadow housing minister, I understand the critical importance of increasing the supply of high-quality, affordable homes to support communities like Sowerby.
“This development by Karbon Homes, with its thoughtful mix of rental and ownership options, exemplifies empowering individuals through homeownership while ensuring sustainable, community-focused growth.”
Paul Fiddaman, chief executive of the Karbon Group, added: “These new homes at Sowerby are a real success story in our ongoing programme to deliver more affordable homes in communities where affordability can be a challenge for local residents.
“At planning stage, we were keen to design a development that meets the needs of the local community, outlining a mix of property types and sizes to provide options for residents at varying stages of life, and that’s what we’ve managed to achieve.
“It’s a proud moment to see them completed and we hope the new residents will be really happy here.”
The development is part-funded through Karbon Homes’ partnership with Homes England and will be managed by 54North Homes, supporting the delivery of 2324 affordable homes across the North East and Yorkshire.
