Hull property market set for fresh spotlight
A new initiative is aiming to challenge outdated property perceptions in Hull.
The city’s first Hull Property Trade Show, launched by former Hull KR player and property expert Dave Petersen, director of operations at property consultant CityGate North, is set to take place on Saturday, November 8 at Princes Quay Shopping Centre.
Dave says the event aims to highlight Hull’s property opportunities, which often go overlooked in favour of northern rivals such as Leeds and Manchester.
He said: “People are buying here without knowing the city.
“They’re chasing low prices but missing the real value.
“Hull isn’t just affordable, it’s investable – and it deserves better.”
With average property prices around £140,000, Hull offers a lower barrier to entry and strong rental yields, creating attractive returns for investors willing to understand the local market.
Dave’s firm, Citygate North, is leading the push to showcase these advantages and encourage responsible investment.
He added: “I want to shine a spotlight on the untapped potential here and put to bed all those outdated misconceptions.
“We’ve got top UK property experts speaking as well as exhibitors from local trades and property professionals to legal, finance, tech and investment services, representing the full spectrum of Hull’s property scene including Bridge McFarland, Towergate and Alessandro Caruso Architects.
“People will get the opportunity to connect with local experts and learn how to build portfolios that benefit both investors and the city.
“This isn’t just a trade show.
“It’s a regeneration platform.
“Hull is booming – people just need to see it.”
The show is being endorsed by some of Hull’s most successful entrepreneurs and business owners, including Dr Paul Sewell OBE.
Paul added: “Hull has always been a city of resilience, innovation and opportunity, but it continues to be underestimated.
“The Hull Property Trade Show is a brilliant chance to show investors, developers and the wider business world what we’re really about.
“It brings people together from across the property sector, shines a light on Hull’s strengths and helps build the confidence we need to keep driving local regeneration and growth.
“I'm proud to support it.”
David Hooper, from the Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce, added: “We’re delighted to support the Hull Property Trade Show to showcase and encourage further development, regeneration and investment in the region.
“This event aligns nicely with our mission statement – “Growing your business, building our economy” – and we welcome the opportunity to connect with businesses in the property, building and construction sectors to promote and leverage residential, commercial, investment and regeneration opportunities.”
Tickets for the trade show are available now, and a limited number of exhibitor places remain.
