Hydrogen firm unveils education hub plans
An energy sector operator has unveiled education hub plans.
Hydrogen TE (UK) hopes to create a training base in Manston, near Ramsgate.
Bosses say the venture would neighbour a proposed £120 million, 100-job waste-to-hydrogen plant and “establish Manston as a centre of excellence for the UK hydrogen sector”.
Featuring a visitor centre, they add the 30-job education hub would work with schools, colleges and universities to promote STEM careers.
A decision on the company’s planned 13-acre hydrogen factory, which it says would convert household and commercial waste into hydrogen, is expected later this year.
Michael Engsted, managing director, said: “This is not just about clean energy; it’s about jobs, skills, education and creating local pride in a facility that puts Kent and Thanet on the map as a leader in the hydrogen sector.
“We are not just building a waste-to-hydrogen plant; we are building a promise that industrial innovation can be clean, responsible and community driven.
“Our aim is to inspire the next generation, and by creating immediate job opportunities and a pipeline of future skills, we believe this project can deliver long-lasting social and economic value.”
