MEC builds on growth with fourth base

A specialist technical consultancy is gearing for further growth with the opening of a new office in Nottingham.

MEC Consulting Group has launched its fourth base at the ARC Space Studio on Western Street, expanding from its Leicester head office. 

Eight specialists in lighting, flood risk, civils, transport and geo-environmental services have joined the new site, led by regional director Tim Rose.

Bosses say the move strengthens MEC’s “visibility” across the East Midlands and builds on its involvement in local networks, including ProCon Nottingham, The First Thursday Club, Women in Construction and RTPI East Midlands.

They add that the new office will also lead to a recruitment push, with several new roles having been made available.

Alex Bennett, managing director of MEC, which also has offices in Birmingham and Brighton said: “Nottingham has been on our radar for some time; thanks to the strong client relationships we have already established in the Midlands. 

“We are aware that business in Nottingham typically thrives on a local, neighbourly approach so we are pleased to have secured such a prominent location into the heart of the city. 

“This move not only allows us to increase our visibility but also puts us in a great position to connect more easily, meet face-to-face, and continue the exciting expansion of our business.”

Tim added: “A central Nottingham office has been a consideration for some time and was built into our recruitment strategy, hence why we’ve been able to establish a strong, multifaceted team from the outset. 

“However, when the opportunity arose to join ARC Design Studio in their new co-working building, it felt like a natural fit, having collaborated with them on multiple projects.

“ARC Space is a community-focused workspace that fosters teamwork and a strong sense of connection, which aligns perfectly with our own values. 

“It also reflects a model that’s worked well for us in other locations, and we’re confident it will not only strengthen our relationship with ARC Design Studio but also provide a solid foundation for continued growth in Nottingham and the wider East Midlands.
