Family supplies firm eyes growth with HQ move
A family-owned industrial supplies firm aims to double revenue with a six-figure headquarters extension.
PPS has bought a warehouse on York’s Northminster Business Park.
Bosses say the 6600sq ft building – next to the company’s existing base on the industrial hub – will boost operational capacity by 50 per cent and strengthen plans to increase commercial growth by 100 per cent by 2030.
Works include the addition of three loading bays and removal of old offices, with the project slated for completion by the end of 2025.
The extension – overseen by R&B Building Services – follows a similar six-figure investment to refit warehousing at a sister Keighley site last year.
Joseph Fitzpatrick, managing director at PPS, which supplies cleaning, catering, medical and workwear products, said: “We have been spatially challenged for the last five years.
“Combined with ambitious growth plans, that made for an ‘immovable object meets unstoppable force’ situation.
“We spent a long time looking at all options, but ultimately concluded that buying our neighbour’s house, so to speak, was the best option.
“This deal gives us more space to grow in York, and we continue to own all our warehousing and premises, which strengthens our balance sheet and allows us to take a long-term view going forward.”
PPS worked with Barclays UK Corporate Bank and York, Hull, Grimsby and Scarborough-based Andrew Jackson Solicitors to secure the warehouse deal.
Husam Khoury, of Barclays UK Corporate Bank, said: “We are proud to support PPS in its latest expansion, providing the financial backing needed for its ambitious growth strategy.”
Adrian West, Andrew Jackson Solicitors’ commercial property partner, added: “Working with PPS has been a real privilege.
“It is a fantastic Yorkshire business, which continues to show the value of investing locally and building long-term resilience.”
