Early Years film released to celebrate Recycle Week

A North East film company has released a new short film on sustainability in kids’ early years to coincide with Recycle Week UK.

Siren Films have announced the release of the new production about Sustainability in the Early Years, which is available on the company’s website for free this week.

Filmed on location at The Grove Nursery in London, the short film captures the inspiring journey of staff and children as they work together to build a more sustainable future.

Throughout the film children at the nursery engage with bugs, bees, plants and trees around them while staff harness the children’s curiosity and engage with parents to share their knowledge.

Katrina McEvoy, managing director of the Siren Films team, said the nursery was chosen because children are naturally curious and eager to explore the world around them, which means early years’ practitioners have the “opportunity to harness their curiosity and introduce simple concepts like recycling, saving water, growing plants, and respecting nature”.

With the support of renowned early years expert Laura Henry-Allain, the film offers a heartfelt and practical insight into how sustainability can be meaningfully embedded in early years education and demonstrates these early lessons can help develop eco-conscious habits children will carry into adulthood.

Katrina said: “We had a wonderful time filming at The Grove.

“The passion, insight and dedication of the staff was a joy to witness.

“The children showed us that even at a young age, they understand they can have a positive impact on the world.

“The short film features real-life examples of sustainable practices in action, including recycling, planting, growing and cultural sustainability and highlights how children are never too young to care for the planet.”

The film is available for free until September to celebrate Recycle Week UK on the Siren Films website, here.
