Tuned In! hits high note with £2 million boost
A North East creative venue is set for a major transformation thanks to a multi-million-pound investment.
Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council has secured £2 million from the Government to redevelop Tuned In! on Redcar seafront into a hub for performing arts and community events.
Work will be delivered by Bowburn-headquartered Esh Construction, starting on October 13 and completing by spring 2026.
The redevelopment will create a flexible community theatre for live music, comedy and drama, alongside an upgraded café designed to double as a social space by day and a lively hub by night.
New modernised areas will host workshops, activities and events for children, families and the wider community.
Officials say the investment secures the long-term future of Tuned In! and builds on recent improvements in the Coatham area, including the boating lake, beach base, crazy golf course and play park.
They add that a new operator will be appointed to run the venue once the works are complete.
Councillor Alec Brown, leader Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, said: “The investment in Tuned In! is about more than bricks and mortar – it’s about creating spaces where young people can thrive and express themselves.
“It was important to secure the long-term future of TunedIn! for our young people, residents and visitors and develop it as a place where the community, creativity and opportunity come together.”
