Wynyard welcomes new retail and trade park
A new retail and trade park is set to open in the Tees Valley.
Hebburn-based contractor Castle, appointed by development and investment firm Northumberland Estates, has completed a sectional handover at Wynyard Trade and Retail Park within Wynyard Business Park.
The project has delivered a 48,000sq ft Sainsbury’s Superstore, a 44,794sq ft terrace of seven trade counter units and a 1853sq ft Starbucks Drive Thru.
Castle teams oversaw works from enabling and infrastructure through to superstructure, MEP services, fit-out and external roads and car parks, ensuring the facilities are ready for tenant occupation.
The retail and trade units have already attracted major brands, including Howdens, Screwfix and Doves, positioning the park as a key destination for shopping and trade in the Tees Valley.
Craig Muldoon, divisional director build at Castle, said: “It is very satisfying to complete, on behalf of our valued client, Northumberland Estates, a sectional handover on this major project and, in particular, the delivery of a Sainsbury’s superstore, which will create a huge number of jobs and act as a real pull to drive footfall right across the Retail Park.”
Peter Dalby, Northumberland Estates Development Manager, added: “We are delighted to see the successful delivery of the new Sainsbury’s Superstore and wider developments at Wynyard Retail and Trade Park.
“From the outset, our vision has been to create a high-quality destination that strengthens the local economy, attracts nationally recognised occupiers, and generates significant employment opportunities.
“The completion of these key phases marks a major milestone in realising that vision and firmly establishes Wynyard as a premier retail and trade location in the Tees Valley.”
