Blyth housing scheme set for major improvements
A supported housing scheme in Blyth is set to receive an investment boost.
Newcastle-headquartered Karbon Homes is investing £2 million in upgrades at Athlone Court, its supported housing scheme in Blyth, working alongside Novus Property Solutions.
The improvements, designed and administered by property services specialists Storm Tempest, will cover 35 flats and communal areas, including full kitchen, bathroom, electrical and heating upgrades, as well as new flooring and redecoration.
Residents will also see enhanced security with a new CCTV system, a porch upgrade and internal scooter storage.
Externally, the building will receive a new roof and other upgrades to improve safety and comfort.
Jon McDonald, head of supported housing at Karbon Homes, said: “This is an exciting project which we know will make a big difference to customers living there.
“The works we have planned will not only benefit customers in their homes but will also provide them with modern and welcoming communal spaces where they can come together to socialise.”
Novus Property Solutions will hire two additional staff to support delivery and engage in social value activities such as local school projects and paid work placements.
Jason Smithies, head of operations at Novus, added: “We’re delighted to be continuing our long-standing partnership with Karbon Homes through this exciting project at Athlone Court.
“These comprehensive refurbishments will not only improve the quality, comfort and energy efficiency of residents’ homes, but also enhance the wider community environment.
“Our team is proud to play a part in delivering meaningful, lasting improvements, and we look forward to working collaboratively with Karbon Homes, residents and partners to ensure the project’s success.”
The project is part of a wider programme of investment across Karbon’s supported housing stock, which includes 43 sheltered schemes across the North East.
