Eastgate Engineering promotes operations manager
Teesside-based Eastgate Engineering has promoted James McCue to operations manager.
James joined the engineering firm in 2022 as a project manager, progressing to senior project manager in January 2025.
He has led key projects including the ReNew Plant, the world’s first commercial-scale plastic recycling plant using hydrothermal upgrading technology, and the Lostock Sustainable Energy Plant, which will generate 69.9 MW of electricity from residual waste.
In his new role, James will oversee operational performance across the business and support Eastgate’s strategic growth objectives, strengthening project delivery while ensuring continued value and reliability.
His promotion underscores the company’s commitment to developing leadership from within and driving ongoing growth across its engineering operations.
James said: “It’s a real privilege to be appointed as operations manager for Eastgate Engineering.
“With a strong pipeline of projects in place, it’s both an exciting opportunity and a significant responsibility to help contribute to Eastgate’s next chapter of growth.
“I look forward to partnering with colleagues across the business to strengthen collaboration, drive continuous improvement, optimise workflows, and support our talented project teams who are delivering first-class results for our clients.”
David Brennan, chief executive and founder of Eastgate Engineering, added: “Since James joined Eastgate back in 2022, he has proven himself to be a dedicated leader who inspires those around him.
“His progression within the company highlights the strength of our team and our commitment to developing talent from within.
“I look forward to seeing James bring his energy and leadership to this important role.”
