Investment firms unite under one brand

A West Midlands-based investment group is strengthening its regional focus.

Future Planet Capital has announced a brand alignment initiative, bringing its global, national and regional capabilities together under a single identity, including the well-established West Midlands firm Midven.

Bosses say the move formalises the firm’s “one brand, three strategies” approach, designed to simplify its offering and enhance support for the companies it invests in.

They add that Midven, acquired by Future Planet Capital three years ago, will now operate as Future Planet Capital Regional.

Surjit Kooner, investment director of Future Planet Capital Regional, said: “This is a natural evolution of our partnership and a testament to the incredible work the Midven team has done over the years.

“By operating under a single brand, we can better leverage our combined expertise and resources, ultimately strengthening our offering to the West Midlands.”

While the name is evolving, the firm emphasises that the core business remains unchanged.

Funds managed by the former Midven team will retain their structure and continue under the same leadership, with a continued commitment to supporting early-stage and high-growth businesses in the region.

The unified brand also reinforces Future Planet Capital Regional’s role as fund manager for the £25 million West Midlands Co-Investment Fund, set up by the West Midlands Combined Authority in partnership with the West Midlands Pension Fund.

The fund invests equity of up to £1 million in innovative SMEs, using a co-investment model to attract private sector backing alongside business angels, aiming to drive growth across the region.
