North East saddlery expert becomes president
County Durham-born Andrea Patterson, owner of Castle House Saddlery, has been appointed President of the Society of Master Saddlers.
Andrea, who previously served as vice president and director of the Society, took up the 12-month presidency from September.
She is one of the most highly qualified saddle fitters in the North of England, holding Master Saddle Fitter status and working as a British Horse Society Stage III coach, trainer, lecturer and NVQ assessor.
Andrea’s appointment reflects her extensive experience and commitment to horse welfare, ensuring the highest standards in saddlery and saddle fitting are maintained across the country.
She said: “It is a huge honour to be appointed President of the Society of Master Saddlers.
“Having dedicated much of my life to horses and to the craft of saddle fitting, I am passionate about raising awareness of the difference correct saddle fit makes to horse comfort and welfare, enabling them to perform at their very best.
“I look forward to representing our members and continuing the Society’s work to uphold the highest professional standards.”
The Society of Master Saddlers is the principal UK body for saddle manufacture, retail, repair and fitting, with globally recognised qualifications and standards.
