Business leaders invited to steer Tees Valley growth
Business leaders in the Tees Valley are being asked to help shape the region’s economic future.
The Tees Valley Combined Authority and its five local authorities are developing a ten-year Local Growth Plan (LGP) designed to drive long-term economic growth across the area.
Officials say the plan will focus on the region’s strengths, outlining priorities and strategies to support local businesses, increase employment and stimulate innovation.
Five key growth priorities have already been identified, including boosting the foundational economy, raising business density and equipping more residents with the skills needed for work.
Local businesses are now being invited to provide input on the scale of opportunities in these areas, explore what success could look like and suggest interventions that could deliver the greatest impact.
Engagement events will be hosted at the Teesworks Skills Academy, covering specific sectors and priorities.
These include:
- Modern Industrial and Technology Cluster and Advanced Manufacturing Sector – Tuesday, October 7, 10am
- Digital and Creative Cluster – Wednesday, October 8, 2pm
- Foundational Economy – Thursday, October 9, 10am
- Growth and Regeneration – Thursday, October 9, 2pm
The events aim to ensure that the views of local businesses are central to shaping the Tees Valley’s economic vision, helping the region set a course for sustainable growth and opportunity over the next decade.
Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen said: “This Local Growth Plan is about building on our strengths and ensuring that everyone in Tees Valley can share in the opportunities that lie ahead.
“But to make it a success, we need businesses at the heart of the conversation. These events are a chance for local employers, innovators and leaders to directly influence the priorities and actions that will shape our economy for the next decade.
“I’d urge as many business voices as possible to get involved and help us create a plan that delivers real, lasting growth for our region.”
Business leaders, employer, and stakeholders interested in contributing to the Tees Valley Local Growth Plan are encouraged to register here.
