Teenager joins Pure Block Management as apprentice

Jasmine Lynch, 17, has joined Pure Block Management in Hull as a property management apprentice while studying for her Level 3 Business Administration qualification at Hull Business Training Centre.

Jasmine will spend most of the week at Pure Block Management’s Riverside House headquarters, gaining hands-on experience across Hull, the East Riding, York and North Yorkshire, while joining her tutors online one day a week.

She will be mentored by experienced administrator Louise Doyle and will work across the company’s property, administration, and HR functions.

Jasmine said: “I’m excited to be here, and I’ve had a really busy first few days learning about the business.

“There is such a lot of information to take in, but I am sure I’ll soon get up to speed.

“I’d recently decided that I didn’t want to go back to college full time and that I wanted to pursue an apprenticeship, and I’m really interested in the HR side of business, so I think this is an ideal role for me.

“Everyone has been very welcoming and friendly, and I’ve been made to feel part of the team immediately.

“That has helped me settle in quickly and feel comfortable here, which will help me work to my best also.”

Jasmine’s appointment continues the Garness Group’s long-standing commitment to investing in young, local talent and developing skills for success in the property sector.

Liam Parker, director of Pure Block Management, added: “As a business we’ve been enjoying continued, steady growth, and that has led to us needing extra administrative resource, to ensure we continue to meet the high standards we set ourselves.

“We felt that it gave us an opportunity to give something back locally, rather than just going down the usual recruitment route, and so decided to seek an apprentice to train into the role.

“This gives us the chance to mould somebody young and enthusiastic into our way of working and our values, whilst also giving something back locally and giving a young person a foot in the door and a chance to learn from our very experienced team.

“Jasmine will be supporting our block managers in all aspects of the behind the scenes work which is crucial to providing an effective and efficient block management service.

“That includes ensuring that we are communicating effectively and efficiently with freeholders, leaseholders and occupiers at all times, ensuring we are fully prepared for AGMs, and that our databases and records are always updated.

“She will also provide assistance in areas such as credit control, and in our planning of works on the properties we manage.

“We were very impressed with Jasmine in her interview.

“She was very enthusiastic, and it was clear she has a great work ethic.

“We felt immediately that she’d be a good fit with our team and look forward to working with her, and Hull Business Training Centre, to help her achieve her goals.”

Chris Dolman, strategic development manager at Hull Business Training Centre, added: “This is a fantastic example of how employers in our region are investing in young people, giving them the opportunity to develop their skills in a real working environment.

“We’re really pleased to be partnering with Pure Block Management to support Jasmine on her apprenticeship journey and look forward to seeing her grow in confidence and capability as she progresses.”
