Newcastle Jobs Fair returns

A careers event is set to showcase hundreds of job opportunities.

The Newcastle Civic Centre Jobs Fair is returning this Thursday (October 9), running from 10am to 2pm, with hundreds of roles on offer from local, regional and national employers.

Nearly 3000 people attended the first two editions of the Jobs Fair, with organisers expecting strong attendance again this year.

Hosted by Newcastle City Council and Job Centre Plus, the event will feature nearly 80 employers and training providers offering a wide range of opportunities.

Visitors can explore full-time and part-time positions, seasonal work, apprenticeships and career progression roles across multiple sectors.

Companies attending include Newcastle City Council, Amazon, Lidl, Stagecoach, Network Rail, Barclays, Tesco, the NHS, the RAF, universities, construction firms, charities and more.

In addition to job vacancies, attendees will be able to access advice and support on training and career development, including information on pathways into employment and upskilling programmes.

Councillor Karen Kilgour, leader of Newcastle City Council, said: “I’m delighted that our upcoming Jobs Fair will bring together nearly 90 major employers and training providers under one roof.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to explore a wide range of career paths, whether they’re just starting out, looking for a change, or aiming to progress further in their chosen field.

“One of the greatest strengths of the Jobs Fair is the chance to speak directly to employers and training providers.

“Instead of sending off countless applications online, jobseekers can have real conversations, ask questions face to face, and make a strong impression from the outset.

“Employers are always on the lookout for motivated individuals, and events like this make it easier than ever for people to showcase their skills, personality and ambition.

“For those interested in training or upskilling, there will also be expert providers on hand to advise on the next steps and the support available.”

“I’d encourage everyone who is searching for work, considering a career move, or simply curious about new opportunities to come along.

“With so many employers and providers eager to meet local talent, this Jobs Fair is the perfect place to take that next step on the career ladder.”
