SCCI shortlisted for national award

A South Yorkshire business organisation has been recognised for its national impact and innovation.

Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has been shortlisted by the British Chambers of Commerce for the prestigious Chamber of the Year award, celebrating the outstanding work, innovation and influence of chambers across the UK.

The recognition highlights the success of its international trade delivery arm, the Sheffield International Trade Centre (SITC), which supports businesses in navigating export and import processes.

Serving around 1000 businesses across the UK, the centre helps firms build export strategies, business plans and documentation.

SITC is the only Authorised Economic Operator-accredited chamber in the world and delivers compliance-ready trade services for ten other chambers across the UK.

It also provides consultancy, customs and documentation support as part of its growing portfolio.

In the last financial year alone, SITC saw a 42 per cent rise in declaration sales, with consultancy demand increasing by 500 per cent – reflecting its growing reputation for excellence.

Its flagship South Yorkshire International Trade Conference also brings together business leaders, policymakers and trade experts to strengthen regional opportunities.

Nick Patrick, director of international trade at SCCI, said: “We’re thrilled to receive this shortlisting which recognises the hard work and passion of the international trade centre, as well as Sheffield Chamber more generally.

“My long-term objective has been to make us one of the leading international trade service providers, customs brokers and compliance consultants in the UK and a shortlisting like this is a massive milestone towards achieving this goal.

“Now more than ever, we’re committed to helping businesses reach their full potential.

“Providing a space to open doors to new markets is especially important as we navigate the ever-changing challenges for international trade and economic recovery.”

The SCCI’s impact extends beyond trade, contributing to South Yorkshire’s wider economic development plans through collaboration with the Mayoral Combined Authority.
