Review: Halloween fun for all ages at Stockeld Park
If you go down to the woods at Stockeld Park this Halloween, you’re sure of a spooky surprise – Bdaily was invited to visit the attraction’s spooktacular family event.
With autumn beginning to make its mark and Halloween fast approaching, there’s magic in the air with promise of thrilling fun and picture-perfect moments.
If you’re looking for a family day out offering spooky festivities for children of all ages, Stockeld Park, with its array of adventure play parks, interactive oddities and some very friendly witches, is the perfect place to visit.
Set in peaceful woodland a short hop from the A1(M) close to Wetherby, Stockeld Park has built its reputation on its ever-changing seasonal displays, making it a staple for families across the North East and Yorkshire looking to celebrate throughout the year.
This year’s Halloween offering is as magical as ever, with the Enchanted Forest taking centre stage.
A circular loop through the woodland, guests follow a flat, pushchair-friendly path that is full of illuminated Halloween sculptures and interactive installations to keep the interest up between the high-quality play areas dotted along the route.
Also hidden in the woods are four colourful witches who offer games, stories and magical surprises for younger guests – each one was unfailingly friendly and full of fun while managing queues and activities for a range of children of all ages.
Once dusk begins to fall, the woodland loop around the lake is particularly magical, with sparkling lights on all sides of the path – watch out, though, as some of the play parks on the route close slightly earlier than others.
Stockeld Park’s five unique outdoor play areas cater to every age – from toddler-friendly zones to more challenging structures for pre-teens.
Each area is designed to encourage imaginative play while offering increasing levels of challenge for older children, making it ideal for families with mixed-age youngsters.
A new addition for Halloween 2025 is the pumpkin patch, reached via a gentle tractor ride across the fields.
Once there, families can pick their own pumpkins (small additional charge per pumpkin) and enjoy a host of photo opportunities among the hay bales, wheelbarrows and a friendly Scarecrow – perfect for those Instagram-worthy moments.
For indoor activities, Stockeld Park’s PlayHive is a standout attraction.
Beautifully designed and immaculately maintained, it features towering climbing frames, enormous slides and interactive zones that challenge and entertain.
At an otherwise outdoor attraction, it’s great Stockeld Park now has a play space that’s available whatever the weather, although look out for the different price points for ‘any time’ entry compared to specific timed entry slots.
Other attractions include a magical maze – transformed for Halloween into a (not too scary) Monster Maze – plus a gentle train ride around the Enchanted Forest and a laser Zombie Experience (both have an additional charge).
The practical sides of a family day out are well covered too.
There is plentiful parking on site, and the entire park is spotless and well cared for, with new features and play equipment added regularly.
Two separate café facilities offer a range of refreshments, from barista coffee to child-friendly meals, making it easy to refuel during your visit.
There are also plenty of toilets on site, including at the halfway point of the Enchanted Forest loop.
As a regular visitor with children aged four and six, I can vouch for Stockeld Park’s appeal.
My children love the freedom to run, climb and explore in safe surroundings, and there’s always something new to discover each time we visit – whether it’s a new piece of play equipment, an interactive sculpture or a surprise character encounter.
Stockeld Park is open every weekend in October and daily during the half-term holiday, from October 25 to November 2, from 9.30-5.30pm.
