Developer digs in for garden centre scheme

A developer is set to transform an ex-garden centre into a £15 million residential and retail hub.  

Breck is primed to break ground on a Blackpool scheme.

Bosses say the site – on the seaside town’s Cropper Road – will include 58 one to three-bed homes for affordable rent and a four-unit retail parade.

They add it will also include a children’s play area and electric vehicle charging points, with Breck working alongside Progress Housing Group.

The development gained planning permission from Fylde Council earlier this year, and has received funding from Homes England.

Andy Garnett, director at Bamber Bridge-based Breck, said: “There’s a real need for a wide range of housing in the Fylde area, and our site forms part of a wider masterplan for housing allocation.

“We’re looking forward to starting on site and continuing our partnership with Progress Housing Group.”

Daniel Griffiths, Progress Housing Group director (development), added: “Working alongside Breck on this new development is a great step forward for this disused piece of land.

“More than 50 high-quality and energy-efficient homes for affordable rent and shared ownership will no doubt bring a boost to the local community.”

The development is planned to be completed in October 2027.
