Data centre firm begins £275 million expansion
A data centre service provider has kickstarted work on a £275 million expansion.
Telehouse International Corporation of Europe has broken ground on a new base at its London Docklands campus.
Bosses say the nine-storey building – known as the Telehouse West Two data centre – will “empower enterprises to accelerate digital transformation”.
Work is set to be completed in 2028.
Construction and fit-out company Flynn Management & Contracting has been appointed to deliver the 32,000 sq metre building alongside mechanical, electrical and fire protection firm Jones Engineering Group.
Kenkichi Honda, Telehouse Europe managing director, said: “The new Telehouse West Two site marks another important step in our ongoing mission to deliver world-class, sustainable digital infrastructure.
“This expansion will empower digital transformation for enterprise clients across multiple sectors, enabling them to benefit from emerging technologies which are shaping the future world, while supporting the uncompromising need for energy efficiency and carbon neutrality.”
Kevin Flynn, chief executive at Flynn Management & Contracting, said: “Our team is ready to deliver on the company’s vision for a data centre that meets the ever-growing digital needs of companies.
“It is a great opportunity for us to further enhance our presence in the capital’s data centre market.”
Brendan McAtamney, group director at Jones Engineering Group, added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to work on a major data centre project in the heart of London.”
