Gentoo invests in future fire and building safety talent
Sunderland-headquartered Gentoo Group has welcomed new graduate and apprentice appointments within its fire and building safety team, reinforcing its commitment to sector resilience and safety for customers.
The roles are part of Gentoo’s long-term strategy to develop emerging talent and strengthen its dedicated team, established following a £2.4 million investment in 2023 in response to the Building Safety Act 2022.
The new colleagues will support compliance and safety assurance across Gentoo’s portfolio, which includes domestic homes, high-rise residential buildings, offices and depots.
They will benefit from structured training, hands-on experience and mentorship to build the skills and knowledge needed to meet evolving legislation such as the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021 and Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Gemma Darville, director of safety, risk and assurance at Gentoo, said: “We’re proud to welcome new talent into the fire and building safety team.
“These appointments reflect our commitment to developing future leaders in the sector and ensuring our team remains equipped to deliver the highest standards of safety and compliance.
“By developing the next generation of fire and building safety professionals, we’re building a team that’s not only strong today but ready for the challenges of tomorrow.”
Anna Bastey, graduate fire and building safety advisor at Gentoo, added: “I’m thrilled to be joining Gentoo’s fire and building safety team at such an exciting time.
“The team’s reputation for putting residents at the heart of safety decisions and driving sector-wide change really stood out to me.
“I’m looking forward to building on what I’ve learned through my studies and applying it in a way that genuinely makes a difference to people’s lives and homes.
“It’s inspiring to be part of a team that’s not only leading the way in fire and building safety, but also investing in new talent to shape the future of the industry.”
