Beal sets sights on £37 million expansion
A Yorkshire housebuilder is planning to expand one of East Yorkshire’s most sought-after communities with a multi-million-pound investment in new homes.
Family-owned Beal Homes has submitted plans for a £37 million extension to its Pilgrims Walk development in Hessle.
The proposals include 169 new properties across a 15-acre site north of Boothferry Road, expanding the existing 80-home neighbourhood to a total of 249 homes.
Bosses say the new phase will feature a mix of one to four-bedroom homes, including terraces, semis, detached houses and bungalows, designed to meet a range of local housing needs.
If approved, the first buyers could move in from early 2027.
Chris Murphy, land director at Beal, said: “Our Pilgrims Walk development has been extremely popular, which is no surprise given that Hessle is a very attractive place to live.
“It’s a desirable suburban area, with excellent local amenities. It’s also located on the western side of Hull, close to open countryside while offering easy and rapid access to the city, Beverley and beyond, via the road network.
“For all these reasons, demand for new homes in the area is very strong.
“That’s why we’re excited to put forward these plans to expand the Pilgrims Walk community and give people further opportunities to own a high-quality home in this sought-after area.
“Housing in the Hessle area is particularly varied and this is reflected in the mix of property types we have proposed.
“This ranges from bungalows, ideal for older people looking for an accessible home enabling them to maintain their independence, up to four-bedroom detached properties perfect for family life.”
Beal’s plans include a circular road layout to improve traffic flow and a network of footpaths and cycle routes linking to existing infrastructure on Boothferry Road.
Landscaped green spaces, public areas and natural features will be retained and enhanced to create an attractive, accessible community.
The development site, already allocated for housing under the East Riding Local Plan, sits less than a mile from Beal’s head office and Design Lounge at Bridgehead business park, where buyers can personalise their new homes with the housebuilder’s in-house design team.
