Kromek 'set for growth' after bumper demand
A technology firm behind equipment helping diagnose illness is set for a financial boost after higher demand.
Kromek says six-month revenues to October 31 are primed to hit at least £14.5 million – nearly four times higher than a year ago.
Bosses say the rise leaves the business, headquartered at NETPark, in Sedgefield, County Durham, on course to reverse equivalent pre-tax and EBITDA losses, and build on a maiden £3.1 million annual profit.
They add the company – whose technology is used in scanners to help diagnose conditions such as osteoporosis – continues to benefit from a headline £30 million deal with Siemens Healthineers to supply furnaces for production of the semiconductor cadmium zinc telluride used in detection equipment.
The firm also enjoyed “strong growth” across the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear sector, where it supplies handheld radiation equipment to global security forces to foil terror plots.
A spokesperson said: “The group’s trading for the first half of the year reinforces the board’s confidence it will deliver revenue growth for the 2026 financial year with results in line with market expectations.”
